I’d like to bring everyone up to date on a big change that has taken place. I founded Keyboard Instrument Rentals (KIR) in 1979 and now, after more than 40 years, I have retired. KIR has been acquired by Crossfire Sound, a major sound, lighting, and staging company located in Brooklyn that is expanding into complete backline rentals. I had the good fortune to meet Kyle Malenfant, owner of Crossfire, at just the right time, so that KIR would not die with my retirement, but live on as my legacy.
Kyle also recently acquired Jim Flynn Rentals, and I’ve known former Jim Flynn employees Eric W. and Gabby for many years. He also acquired dbm Pro Audio (Repairs & Technical Services), who I had used for repairs for many years. Crossfire has acquired most of my rental inventory and also has a huge inventory of sound, video, lighting and staging gear. Having all this and a repair service department under one roof will be even better for my customers, as Crossfire will be able to address multiple needs with one stop shopping. Feel free to take a look at Crossfire brands and their capabilities:
So I knew some of these people already and have gotten to know Kyle, and want to assure my loyal customer base of 40 years that you are in good hands. You will get the same level of excellent customer service you are accustomed to with KIR. In addition, I am assisting with the transition in a consulting capacity, and am available if you have any questions, but Erik W. at Crossfire will be handling most of the day to rental inquiries. You can call him directly at 212-586-1033 or use the contact form to reach Erik or anyone at Crossfire.
Last, I want to thank all my customers for their patronage over the years- I’ve had a long ride with you, but now it’s time for me to write the next chapter of my life!
– Danny Brill
Keyboard Instrument Rentals (KIR) was founded in 1979 by Danny Brill. He spent years as a keyboardist – touring and recording – prior to founding KIR, which gave him the depth of production and studio experience that sets KIR apart.
As a fellow musician, Danny’s knowledge of the gear and production made him exceptionally well qualified to provide the technical expertise required to determine rental needs. Equipment is meticulously maintained and service is highly personalized. This dedication to quality and customer service will now be carried on thru Crossfire Sound Productions, which Danny selected to carry on his legacy. Crossfire acquired KIR in Jan 2021, after Danny announced his retirement after 40+ years in the industry.
If you don’t see what you’re looking for as you browse our inventory lists, please give us a call or email us. We can source just about any piece of professional equipment, as we continue to expand our rental inventory to meet the needs of our customers.
